Since Oakham Town Council introduced what it describes a flexed budget, because it is was incapable of producing a normal fixed budget even though they over pay the clerk to do this job, a Councillor has raised
the issue of budget overspending.
The Clerk waffled on for quite some time, below is the end of what he had to say.
It's shocking that this council can not produce a fixed budget and prefers to simply make up figures
and juggle throughout the year instead of over paying the clerk to produce this nonsense they should
just pop the public money into a tin and spend it as they please. Because that is what they are doing. They can not set a budget based on anything other than previous expenditure, when they don't have any plan or vision.
All Councillors approved the statement of accounts even though the clerk used the words that suggested
they were inaccurate?
'Overspend'
'Keep refining it down so we can get it more accurate, I am not really sure we can do it?'
'It over the budget, its still within the budget, but over that one'
'Learning curve'
