Uppingham Town Council v Oakham Town Council, Localism, Westminster
Uppingham Town Council v Oakham Town Council, Localism, Westminster
Uppingham wins each time, leaving the County Town of Oakham in the dark ages so often.
The Rutland Times reports that the Mayor and his deputy gave a presentation at Westminster
on Localism. Well done Uppingham Town Council.
Why can we not have Councillors here in Oakham like those who serve Uppingham?
Oakham Town Council has no policy on Localism, it has appeared on the agenda once.
Oakham Town Council admits its income led rather than project led.
I can't imagine Oakham Town Council having the ability to make a presentation to Westminster
it can't even find time before next year to amend it's own budget to convert itself into a project led council rather than income led.
The Council does not listen to those it represents.
The only localism it understands is listening to its close circle of friends and ex councillors.
Recently it slipped up and voted against Sainsbury's plans, much to the annoyance of some ex Councillors, who rather jokingly called for democracy to kick in and remove all the Councillor who voted against the plans.
The Mayor Cllr Dewis went on local radio to dig a deeper hole he claimed to speak for all councillors.
If he had listened to all seated around the table, instead of just himself, Councillors gave many more reasons than transport for objecting to the plans.
I suspect Oakham Town Councils Mayor Cllr Alf Dewis, won't want to miss out on a little free publicity in a future edition of the Rutland Times and we will soon be reading about how he, Adam and Joyce enjoyed afternoon tea with Alan Duncan at Westminster, afterwards I could visit and secretly record Alan explaining how sh*t the meeting was?
