No passenger trains through Oakham, due to Foster’s Bridge incident.

No passenger trains through Oakham, due to Foster’s Bridge incident.

On Saturday 5 November a heavy goods vehicle transporting containers to and from one of Rutland County Councils Household Waste and Recycling Centres struck Foster’s Railway Bridge along the A6121, near Ketton.

Road users are being warned to expect delays at Oakham level crossings , Barriers will be down for much longer than normal so please try to use the bypass (Burley Park Way) if possible.

Although there are no passenger trains running through Oakham, there is a single-line working for freight trains, these trains are travelling at very slow speed, because they are travelling along a single track the wrong way without signals. Local train enthusiast are very happy, claiming this is the first time trains have run, wrong road from Ketton to Langham.

British Transport Police have been guarding the level crossings.
