Armed Forces Week, Flag Raising, Oakham, Rutland, Photographs

This morning Rutland County Council raised the Armed Forces Day
flag outside Rutland County Library here in Oakham.

The event is political, also an opportunity for a few to thank current
serving forces.

This year saw a better turn out, numbers boosted by the attendance
of pupils from Catmose College

Some prefer to solemnly commemorate the start of World War One, Cllr Joyce Lucas BEM decided a celebration was best for Oakham. Some Cllrs did appear a little surprised that a party in the park was suggested. The request to party was toned down to Proms in the park with the later addition of supporting a good cause.
