Three candidates in running for Rutland and Leicestershire Police and Crime Commissioner

Residents in Rutland will go to the polls on 6th May 2021 elect the commissioner.


Rupert Matthews, for the Conservative Party.

Rupert Oliver Matthews (born 5 December 1961) is an English author on the paranormal, and a Conservative Party politician. He was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the East Midlands from June 2017 until his term ended on 1 July 2019.

James Moore for the Liberal Democrats.

Dr. James Moore has lived in Leicestershire and Rutland for much of his life. Educated at John Cleveland College, Hinckley, he holds degrees from the University of Oxford and the University of Manchester. James has worked in education for most of his career and currently teaches history and politics at the University of Leicester. He has been a local campaigner for several decades, serving as a member of Liberal Democrat controlled Hinckley and Bosworth Borough council, and working to prevent crime in the community.

Ross Willmott for Labour.

Ross has been a councillor for 38 years, 24 yrs on the City Council and 16 for the Rushey Mead Ward. During that time he has been Leader of the Labour Group and the Council between 1999 and 2010. He stood down as Leader in 2010 to stand for Parliament in the General Election.
