Rutland County Council has lowered its flag to half-mast in honour of the late Cllr Hannah Edwards, a beloved member of the community who tragically passed away this week.

To express their condolences, the Council has opened a book of condolences at The Rutland County Library in Oakham. Residents and friends are invited to write messages of sympathy and remembrance.

Hannah was a highly respected councillor representing the Oakham North East Ward, known for her dedication to her constituents and her passion for serving the community. Her warm personality and approachable demeanour made her a popular figure among residents.

Beyond her political role, Hannah was a talented physics teacher at Oakham School, where she inspired countless students. In her spare time, she pursued her love of aviation, participating in aerobatics and actively contributing to the Oakham Flying School.

The loss of Cllr Hannah Edwards is deeply felt by the entire community. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
