The Lord Lieutenant of Rutland, Sarah Furness, paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II by laying a wreath at the memorial statue in Oakham. The poignant act of remembrance honoured the Queen's significant military service and her unwavering dedication to the nation.

The wreath, a symbol of respect and gratitude, was placed at the foot of the statue as a mark of the Queen's contribution to the Armed Forces. Her Majesty served as Colonel-in-Chief of numerous regiments and corps, demonstrating her deep-rooted connection to the military.
