Joanna Burrows Libdem candidate for Exton Ward Rutland County Council Election 9th March 2017
Joanna Mary Burrows
Liberal Democrats
211 Brooke Road
Oakham
Rutland
LE15 6HQ
Joanna Burrows has lived and worked in Rutland since 1997 and has raised and
educated three children in Oakham. A keen supporter of local charities she has
worked for Age Concern, Voluntary Action Melton, and
TwentyTwenty, an education charity that supports the most disadvantaged
young people including those in Rutland.
She is passionate about Rutland, and is keen to see the precious and limited local
resources targeted wisely, and without detriment to the schools or recreational
resources for young people, and with better solutions for local policing and fire.
She is concerned that the new housing around our towns adversely affects schools,
facilities and services in the surrounding villages.
Joanna says "I believe that Rutland will be best and most fairly served by a
strong Liberal Democrat presence on Rutland County Council as well as a
local Liberal Democrat MP at Westminster."

Prospective candidates are as you quite rightly say required on their nomination forms to give their full name as per the Electoral Register. However, they are also able to identify for the purposes of the Statement of Persons nominated and if relevant the subsequent ballot paper a commonly used name. The candidate you referred to has done exactly that entirely properly.

Oakham Mayor Councillor Adam Lowe writes to Libdems about me
After I declared becoming a Libdem Town Councillor
Oakham Mayor Councillor Adam Lowe has told me he has written to Libdems about me
oops sorry Mr Adam Lowe Rutland Conservative member of the public.
I do hope he has not written in the same style as he did in the past to new parish councillors
I am sure he has written to them and let them know how over the years he has watched how well I have supported the Libdems.
Mr Lowe is not willing to send me a copy of his email. I thank him for his continued interest in most aspects of my life and work within our community,
Lib Dems are only party that can stop Tory majority at next election
Martin
For the record:
My e-mail to the LIB DEMS states in my capacity as a member of the public.
........................
Regards
Adam Lowe

The Ark Association Nursery Oakham Town Council Lease Association Risk Management Talk Walk Away
The Ark Association Nursery Oakham Town Council Lease Association Risk Management Talk Walk Away
Cllr Michael Haley was aware that The Ark Association were leaving the property in
Princess Avenue on the second of February 2017 and failed to let all member know
until the meeting of the 8th February 2017, when we were presented with a revised
Appendix report show below.
I can not say I not pleased the new board of trustees has decided there is some risk
and have decided to walk away from the town council.
The external auditor won't be needed to investigate this matter.
I am hoping the council as I said at the meeting will now advertise the property at the
current market value. We are not estate agents.
It would of course be better if the council considered handing the property over
to the community to run. we are permitted in law to take this action if the residents
actually want a community centre.
The building was named Oakham Community Centre a couple of years ago although
it has never been one.
Perhaps we could also consider the original proposal, community and Oakham Town
Council Office and Chamber. It would save the taxpayers a fortune in rent we currently
pay at Victoria Hall which is "not fit for purpose" according to a 2009 report produced in
2009 when council meeting standards were monitored.

Oakham Town Council Voted not to take over the cemetery from Rutland County Council
Oakham Town Council Voted to longer pay towards the maintenance of the cemetery.
I voted against both.
Members voted to make the item exempt Cllr Adam Lowe.
I asked if the council would come out of exempt when were to vote this was not
supported.
Chairman and Mayor Adam Lowe at the end of the item it was no linger exempt
I am not sure if he has the powers to do this. If he does what was the point of
members being asked to consider exempting the item?
Below are the papers which are no longer exempt.
