General Election: "You're joking - not another one!" BBC News
So here we are - a snap general election.
That's right, Prime Minister Theresa May has announced that she plans to call a general election on June 8. Despite previous repeated denials from Downing Street that there would be a national vote before the next scheduled election in 2020, it is most definitely happening this summer.
Many have reacted with dismay, especially seeing as the EU Referendum was only last year. It seems the nation is sick of politicians bickering with each other, and telling us whatever they can get away with to sway our vote one way or the other.
As ever on such occasions, the major news outlets have been on the streets to gage the immediate reaction of the public, and no one quite summed up the general sense of exasperation to the news like a woman named Brenda. She was told of the announcement by BBC reporter Jon Kay, and responded thus:
"You're JOKING! Not ANOTHER one? Oh for GOD'S SAKE. I can't, honestly, I can't STAND this. There's too much politics going on at the moment. WHY does she need to do it?"

Rutland County Council Oakham High Street One Way Traffic Trial 2017
Rutland County Council Oakham High Street One Way Traffic Trial 2017
It looks like this planned trial has started early.
I see little point of introducing a one way system to part of the high street.
During busy times Mill Street is now congested.
More traffic is being forced to use all nearby residential streets
if they are open.
It seem to me a very odd time to start a trial when the water and electric
mains are being replaced.
If Rutland County Council are going to monitor this trial what are they
going to do to stop the drivers who are ignoring the road closures
and the people who are knocking over signs and moving cones?

Quarry Railway Day & Take A Trip On The Rutlander Train
Monday, April 17th
This is your chance to see the action of an authentic ironstone quarry recreated by museum voluteers and our fleet of locomotives. Quarry machines will be in operation simulating the loading of wagons. The wagons will be shunted to form a train, and then the 'full' wagons will be exchanged for a new train of 'empties'. And of course, there will be the ever popular 'runs up the bank' with trains of hopper or tippler wagons being hauled up the 1/60 gradient - see our locos working at their hardest and best!
Also in operation will be The Rutlander Train, providing passenger brake van rides - Pay once and ride all day!
Visitors can also view our fleet of historic ironstone locomotives in the recently opened Simon Layfield Exhibition Centre which now houses the greater part of the museums collection. The Woolsthorpe Workshop is also open for visitors to see progress of ongoing locomotive restoration.
The Sundew Cafe will be open to provide visitors with hot and cold beverages and snacks.
Price: Adult £8, Senior Citizen £7, Child (3-14 years) £5
