International Cicle Classic Race Start Oakham Rutland 2017

The race got off to a slow start this year, I am told it was due to the serious accident
last year.

Dan Fleeman was this years winner for the Melton-based Metaltek-Kuota team

Happy St George's Day 23rd April 2017 England Flag

Happy St George's Day 23rd April 2017 England Flag

St George's Day is England's national day and falls on April 23

The day remembers St George - England’s patron saint.

A Christian martyr, St George represents traditional English chivalry and bravery, even though he wasn't English, and probably never set foot in this green and pleasant land.

Even so, we English have taken him under our wing and made him the symbol of our nation.

Provincial Grand Lodge Of Leicestershire and Rutland Freemasons Add to clutter on Fascia of Victoria Hall Oakham

Rutland County Council gave planning permission for this fake blue plaque to be placed
on the fascia of Victoria Hall Oakham.

It is not clear how many times the Masons have used Victoria Hall for meetings
Local people aware of more meetings being held at Oakham Public School
I am told the School did not want the plaque on any of their buildings.

Fortunately the plaque has been fitted up high so those who don't look up
will probably never notice the addition to Victoria Hall.
