Oakham Rutland and Rutland News Martin Brookes

Uppingham – In the last month we have conducted 4 speed monitoring operations in Uppingham along the main arterial routes. Whilst there have been a high number of cars checked through the speed gun, none have been found to be significantly over the limit which require prosecution. One vehicle was stopped and words of advice were issued, however apart from this one instance the levels of speed have generally been to the limit, which is commendable. Whilst we will continue to monitor speed from time to time, it no longer appears as big of an issue as previously reported. We will soon be closing this priority. PC Josh Ace.

PC Pete Icke Leicestershire Police Rutland South Update

Rutland South – This month we have continued with our high visibility patrols around Rutland water and surrounding villages checking on vehicles and leaving advisory notes on those that have left property on display. We have stopped checked any suspicious vehicles and have dealt with any offences found. In the last month we have had no thefts from inside vehicles but have had theft of number plates from Caldecott and theft of a Kelsa light bar on the A47 Morcott. We will continue with our patrols throughout the summer months and ask you remove any property to the boot area when out and when parking up at home take any valuables inside with you. If you see any suspicious activity in your area or when you’re out call 999 in an emergency if you see a crime is taking place and 101 for anything else. PC Pete Icke.

PC Laurie Appleton Leicestershire Police Rutland North Update

Rutland North – We have conducted High Visibility patrols on the quarry and around the location to try and identify bike users, however have not witnessed any bikers to date. We have had a reduction in calls to Leicestershire police with regards to this issue. However we have linked in with Stamford police team who have had several reports about motor bikes in the quarry and we are working with them to identify the users to ensure they do not return. PC Joe Lloyd Leicestershire Police Oakham & Barleythorpe Update

Oakham & Barleythorpe - In May we have been carrying out ad-hoc fatal 4 operations. Officers from the Neighbourhood Priority Team have seized a vehicle which has been driving around the local area without insurance. The public gave us information on the location of this vehicle of the last month. We continue to have a visible presence on the by-pass usually that presence makes people slow down. Whilst sat in our vehicles we are carrying out work on our agile working tablets and phones. PC Joe Lloyd.
