Royal Visit Oakham Castle Security

Pleased to see Simon Cole Chief Constable of  Leicestershire Police
remembered a former Tory and Rutland Councillors offer to provide
armed security guards to support the work of his police force at a
police authority meeting.

In 2000  the Councillor told press Why guards should be armed

The latest vicious attack on one of his security guards has triggered Gene Plews to renew his plea for guards to be armed.

Gene Plews runs Guarding Security Ltd at Wigston, on the outskirts of Leicester. Despite his firm being one of the largest and most respected in the area — with over 200 guards on the books at any one time — Plews says that reputation is not enough.

The case, he believes, for guards to have some form of armed protection is now irrefutable, and without protection they are "putting their lives at risk".
