Oakham Town Council what rules?

Dear Members

Although I first agreed to next weeks agenda item regarding my appointment. To the Festival Committee. I have checked standing orders and after reading carefully the Rescission of Previous Resolution order, I see we can not just add this item to the agenda. 5 members need to change their minds and write a special resolution, the written notice whereof shall bear the names of at least five members of the Council

before the meeting.

I suggest Cllr Dewis, Cllr Haworth and Cllr Lucas wont have trouble doing this.

If standing orders are not followed then I am afraid the committee is stuck with me and no one from the council will be able to see if the tax payers money is spent correctly.

I think this is another clear example of how the council feels standing orders don't apply to Oakham Town Council.

Copy of order below

from

Cllr Martin Brookes

Rescission of Previous Resolution

35 (a) A decision (whether affirmative or negative) of the Council shall not be debated by Council within six months save by special resolution, the written notice whereof shall bear the names of at least five members of the Council.

(b) When a special resolution or any other resolution moved under the provisions of paragraph (a) of this Order has been disposed of, no similar resolution may be moved within a further six months.

(c) This Standing Order shall not apply to resolutions moved in pursuance of the report or the recommendation of a committee.
