Tonight the public of Stamford held a meeting in the town hall, to debate and ask questions of the Skate Park Committee. The hall gradually filled with young and older people, some people were left standing outside the door.
The Skate Park Committee and the young people have successfully raised £150,000 to build a new skate park in the towns recreation ground. The original skate park was removed after health and safety concerns.
Mark started with a presentation of the committees proposal and work so far.
The public were then given the opportunity to ask questions and have their say. The chairman made sure no one was missed.
Some residents are concerned there will be an increased risk of anti social behaviour. Young and Older people spoke in favour of the skate park.
The thing that I shall remember most is how well behaved the young people were. It was nearly handbags at dawn for two older ladies, one accused the other of having no brains or something along those lines.
In all it was good to see a public meeting, Rutland is not very good at public meetings those that do go ahead are far too stage managed by Rutland County Council.
above is a short film: (not sure who me is) me and James Germany created for a large meeting that is happening in my town about getting a skatepark back" due to technical problems this film could not been shown at the public meeting.
