Cllr John Nowell Oakham Town Council Chalet Grant Application Withdrawn

Cllr John Nowell Oakham Town Council Chalet Grant Application Withdrawn

Oakham Town Council confirmed it has received a letter from Mrs Nowell wife of Cllr Nowell.
She is one of three company directors along with Cllr Nowell.

The letter apparently makes a reference to refurbishment for one of the reasons of withdrawing the application. Rather strange when you are seeking a grant for exactly that purpose.

No mention is made about the quotes or the errors in the accounts supplied to support the
grant application.

Which I published on this blog:

Leicestershire Police are aware the application has been withdrawn.

So I imagine in their usual fashion of supporting Oakham Town Council no further will be taken for the possible offence of attempting to obtain money by deception.

They are a difficult organisation to deal with it took a lot effort by another member of the public, who had read my blog, to even get Leicestershire Police to record and provide an incident number.
The member of the public was questioned by Inspector Mystery, "why are you reporting this?" the response from the member of the public was, "I am a Oakham resident and tax payer" and he then allowed a report to be filed.

To me the withdrawal of the application is to me a sign of guilt and a representation of the typical
behaviour you can expect from Oakham Town Council.

I am told Cllr Nowell should have declared on the application form he is one of the company directors.
I wonder if this was also a attempt to deceive? The tax payer.

All the information I have found plus the subsequent application withdrawal has now been passed to
The Chief Executive of Melton Borough Council as the applicant stated they were also seeking a large sum from that Council. Lets hope that saves the tax payers of Melton some cash, just like those of Oakham.
