Co-option Oakham Town Council Danger is Rutland County Council will appoint!


The Clerk is still waiting for written clarification from Rutland County Council on the position in Oakham North West. This seat was not filled at the election in May 2011 and it may well be that it has to be re-advertised.

The Council can, however, co-opt to Oakham North East.

Oakham Town Council has failed to attract any in interest in co-option.

Notice was served to call an election
Notice of Co-option was also served

I believe this means Rutland County Council can now take over seeking an appointment, this could be  one of its own Councillors.

Come on people of Oakham! this apathy is doing the town no good...

It certainly keeps Cllrs Lucas, Haworth, Dewis, Nowell and Lowe Happy

People all around the world lose lives for the benefits of democracy.

Here in Oakham we have democracy and it seems those who could take it up can't be bothered.
Or is it because Oakham Town Council does not want, to be held accountable?

Uppingham Town Council made the decision to hold a PR event and for the first time in years,
there was an election. It was said people could not remember the last time there was an election for Uppingham Town Council.
