Oakham Mayors Expenses Cover Church Service Donations / Colletions
This Wednesday Oakham Town Council will be adding conditions to the Chairman's Allowance when it completes its annual review of Financial Regulations.
Interesting up to this point in 2012 Oakham Town Council has never had a policy for paying the allowance.
The internal auditor has made some recommendations, I do wonder why he has never done so before I raised the issue.
One point that I still find unacceptable is the Mayor can attend a church service and look as if they are dipping into their own pocket often rather generously and in reality the tax payer is paying and no receipt is required.
Of course it would be rather difficult for a Mayor to ask for a receipt. surely they can dip into their into their own pocket after all they don't have to pay for much else,
Now I fully understand why Cllr Lucas is unhappy for the Freedom of Information Request to be honoured.
She has attended a lot of church services over her year. In her own words "some invited and others not" When I receive and publish the requested information I hope to see our good Mayor a Christian Methodist has distributed equal sums of tax payers money amongst all the denominations.
I see the auditor has ruled out advanced payment for expenses, it must have been a difficult year for the Mayor attempting to beat the all time records, I once told her it should be quality not quantity, what is the point of her and Bob rushing in stuffing a free cake in her mouth and downing what ever liquid refreshment is available before whipping Bob of to the next venue. Networking! she scowls at me. Well networking takes time it's not speed dating! (I am told this Mayor has not purchased any winning or losing raffle tickets with tax payers money but it is said during a visit to Melton Pet Foods she purchased a box of good boy chocolate drops for her husband as a reward for all his hard work as Consort I am not sure if that is true)
