I was invited by a member of the public to attend as an observer.
I was told they were simply handing over a statement. It turned out not to be that simple, I sat and watched for quite some time.
The witness not a criminal was clearly unhappy with Oakham Police.
The witness refused to hand back a document to Jon, He warned the witness if they did not return the
document the witness would be arrested. The witness refused again and Jon went into his Rugby mode.
I think he opened the hatch before he appeared on the public side of the counter.
At this point the witness knew he meant business and handed over the document.
Continuing to observe, I arrived at the point I was feeling a little uncomfortable with the situation I found myself in and requested Jon asked for a officer to be present. Along came PC White to cool matters. There was one confusing point when there was considerable discussion, PC White said he was happy to record the witness name as 'Mickey Mouse'
The witness eventually agreed to demands and signed their statement.
Both the witness and PC White kissed and made up, well not literally.
The witness did make a marriage proposal upon leaving, well it is a leap year, what the hell!
