Oakham Skatepark "It comes with a five-year guarantee and we believe has represented excellent value for money"

Dear Oakham Town Council,

It has been brought to my attention the skatelite used on our infamous skate park,  has a "five year guarantee!" This can be backed up by the Clerk's comments in the local press.  Oakham town clerk, Richard White said: “Since the skatepark opened the Skatelite surface has proven to be extremely durable and Oakham Town Council has received no reports of it deteriorating. It comes with a five-year guarantee and we believe has represented excellent value for money.”

I wonder if you can explain, why he described the product as durable and value for money when I can't remember a year going by without the council having to fork out substantial repair costs, often running into thousand of pounds. I assume as he stated there is a "five year guarantee", he is working on claiming this expenditure back as a matter of urgency. Or did he just pluck those quotations out of the sky?

As we all know from the last meeting there is currently new damage, surely as is a recent replacement, it is fully covered by the "five year guarantee".

I know the Clerk's educational attainment matches miy poor standards. But surely he understands the meaning of the words "durable", "value of money" & "five year guarantee"?

Of course if the council were to receive any amount of refund I do hope some one will help the Clerk with his accounting because we would not want it entered in such a way that "would exaggerate the councils expenditure"

UPPINGHAM Town Council is investing £10,000 on a new skate- park in Tod’s Piece to cut down on anti-social behaviour.
The current skatepark has been closed for several weeks with danger signs covering the ramps, after the plywood started to splinter.
The skatepark has also been vandalised and burned by young people abusing the facilities instead of using them.
Town clerk Susan Awcock said: “The bad weather last winter along with the abuse the wood has been put through has made it dangerous to use.
“We’re investing a lot of money in Skatelite wood, which is a specialist material especially for skating on.”
The council will also be
putting railings around the park instead of the solid wood boards there now, so that police patrolling the area can see directly into it.
Mrs Awcock added: “We’ve had all sorts of things left there, obstructing the use of the facilities, from empty alcohol bottles to car wheels.
“It has really taken a battering.”
Skatelite wood was used at the skatepark in Oakham which opened in 2007 and has proven to be a great success.
Oakham town clerk, Richard White said: “Since the skatepark opened the Skatelite surface has proven to be extremely durable and Oakham Town Council has received no reports of it deteriorating. It comes with a five-year guarantee and we believe has represented excellent value for money.”
Uppingham Town Council aims to have the new skate- park finished by the end of the summer term. Mrs Awcock said: “We hope it won’t be abused like the old skate park has been.
“It’s there for skateboarding not anything else.”
