Vitruvian Triathlon at Rutland Water Park

08 September 2012 06:00 to 13:00

Hosted by Rutland Watersports the Vitruvian Triathlon is a spectacular race set against the backdrop of Europe's largest man-made reservoir. It's a terrific test of stamina and endurance with a 1.9km swim, followed by a 84km bike ride and culminating in a 21km run.

Watch the  Vitruvian begin at 6.15am as up to 1,000 competitors tackle a gruelling 1900 metre triangle open water swim in Whitwell Creek.  They then enter the transition area and take to their bikes, where they ride a 85km route that includes the notorious Rutland Ripple and nearly 500m of climbing which is a really testing course even for those who like hills. They return to the transition area to tackle the final stage, a 21km run which is set around the southern end of the reservoir and over the Dam.

For more information visit the Pacesetter Events website .
The Vitruvian Triathlon is a major fixture on the British triathlon circuit and was voted the best event of the year in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 by 220 Triathlon Magazine.

Please note on 8 September, there is no vehicular access to the Watersports Centre car park area before 13.00
