Looking at Oakham Town Councils quarterly accounts I am having difficulty finding any evidence of the council reserves.
The Clerk wrote me a rather nonsensical email:
I have not put anything in the General Reserves this month (which are actually £42762) as, again, it exaggerates the total expenditure of the Council during 2012 - 2013. However, since the overspend on the refurbishment work at the Fitness Centre will be coming out of the General Reserves this will be on the next Statement of Accounts in August
I hope that answers your questions.
Richard
Does this email clarify the position? Clear as mud...
If there is anyone better qualified than I am, perhaps they could shed some light on this paradoxical explanation from the clerk.
The Bank reconciliation showed the council had £81,945.20 cash in hand at the year end 01/04/2012
So far this year the council has received an total income of £112,9555.47
they have spent £67,974.88
So they have £126,925.79 remaining.
This is held in seven different ways, that total appears to balance.
The problem I have is with the figure the clerk claims is a reserve of £42,762.00
because when I deduct the income from the cash in hand figure, this leaves only
£14022.32
So where is the outstanding £28739.68 ?
Is it in Helen Briggs' draw?
