The Wississippi Jazzmen Performed at Oakham Bandstand, Photographs Cutts Close Oakham
It is a great shame that more people don't come along for these free concerts, at Oakham Bandstand.
Only free because the tax payer shells out thousands of pounds each year. They are missing some fine performances
The tax payer also paid for the refurbishment of the bandstand £30,000 they could have re-roofed around 8 - 10 ten houses for the that amount.
This years Mayor Cllr Alf Dewis went on a walk about and spoke to people. The old one used to pop down have a gossip with ex councillors and leave. so it made a change to see a Mayor make such an effort to meet those he humbly serves. He told me he like politics, so I assume this could be an effort to score a few points from the people for when he stands in two years time to take control of Rutland County Council. his last attempt failed miserably, at the count he walked out half way through. I sense he does not like losing.

An old favourite of Town Councillor past and present (I must make a note not to photograph any of them enjoying ones self if they turn up. If they do and no public turn up what shall I do? Photograph the daisies?)
It is now possible to buy refreshments and something to eat at the performances.
