Cottesmore woman jailed for falsely claiming £130,000 in benefits over 15 years

Cottesmore woman jailed for falsely claiming £130,000 in benefits over 15 years

Catherine Dalby claimed income support, housing benefit and council tax benefit from Rutland County Council for 15 years when she was not entitled to the money.

Dalby, 46, of Cresswell Drive, Cottesmore, admitted failing to notify Rutland County Council of a change of circumstances while claiming benefits. Cathrine Susan Dalby was sentanced in Room 2 of Lincoln Crown Court  for 15 months on the 3rd August 2012.

What a disgrace Rutland County Council failed to detect this fraud for fifteen years. A typical example of their attitude towards public money.

Rutland County Council is very good at using its benefit fraud officers as a tool against those it does not like or who dares to question them.

Maybe if the stopped that abuse their officer could catch a few more like Mrs Dalby.

A quick look on a property site shows Mrs Dalby could have purchased a house in her street for the sum she stole and all within a short distances of The man who control the money at Rutland County Council Deputy Leader Conservative Terry King. Not wanting to upset the fearsome man I  am sure his home is valued a little higher...
