Lite Awarded Christmas Lighting Contract by Oakham Town Council
Last night Oakham Town Council agreed to purchase new Christmas lights from LITE
After many years spending £16,000 + to put up old lights that were crap, the council finally listened to complaints from the public and me went ahead and found companies to tender.
The result being this year Oakham Town Council will spend less on buying all new lights, all the tests needed, putting up and taking down the lights. A total of £13,842.75
The following two years the company has agreed to store, carry out the required tests, put up and take down all the lights for half the price paid in previous years.
Surprisingly the company also provides all its own equipment to carry out the installation, it does not charge the council £10,000 and then ask for them to pay for the hire charge for the equipment used.
The council did not answer my question of how they found them self in the position of paying a Melton Mowbray contractor so much money for such little in return.
I am guessing this is like the flower contract of past, the contractor must have been a friend of someone connected to the council, I don't think they ever worked in the office like the person who used to provide the towns flowers.
Looking forward to seeing the new lights although it was not clear if the decided on white or coloured bulbs for the high street.
