After Councillor Charles Haworth insulted the sponsor of the towns Jubilee Party, I started to wonder who those sponsors could be.
So I asked Oakham Town Council for that information and how much each sponsor had given
Looking at the Councils accounts only two donations appear to have been received.
Today I have received the most stupid response from the clerk.
He considers my request is a data protection request and therefore I must pay £10 for that information.
But he feels he must inform me the information I would receive will be edited and have all third party information deleted.
Why would I pay £10 for no information?
£10 may not be much for long term unemployed Cllr Charles Haworth, but it is a lot for this unemployed blogger.
I am sure sponsors of any event do so for publicity and acknowledgement.
I will try some different questions like:
Why has the sponsorship money not been processed through the council accounts?
The sponsorship money was public money not Cllr Charles Haworth's, so why has the
council not accounted for the full amounts received or its expenditure in its accounts?
What does the council have to hide?
Is the Clerk having a laugh?
Will the clerk receive further training in yet another aspect of his job?
I won't wait for a response to this question does the council mind if I draw this matter to the attention of the Information Commission
