Sunday 26th August at 3.00pm
The brilliant group of thespians, the Festival Players, will be bringing this Shakespearian classic
to the Oakham Castle grounds for an evening of late summer open-air theatre in the rather fitting
surroundings of the old 12th century fortifications.
Formed in 1986, the Festival Players have been delighting audiences around the world every
summer with their renditions of all the Shakespeare classics in authentic period dress and
original language.
Richard III tells the story of the Duke of Gloucester, a Machiavellian character of great ego
and ambition, who will stop at nothing to gain the Crown. The drama unfolds as he begins to
become more deceitful and underhanded in his tactics, which eventually sees him as the last
King of England to be killed in battle.
The colourful, energetic and crystal-clear all-male rendition of Richard III promises to be
an unforgettable and exciting theatrical experience.
Live@ will have their full bar for the evening, including Pimms,
but we welcome you to bring picnics and blankets to fully enjoy the summer’s
night and beautiful surroundings to the fullest!
