Officers from Rutland local policing unit are appealing for public help after an attempted burglary in Oakham.

The incident took place at about 11.42am on Tuesday September 11 in Melton Road, Whissendine, Oakham when a property was broken into and the suspects made off after they were disturbed by the occupant.

Two men were seen running away from the property and police are urging anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area to contact them.

Detective Constable Sam Bates is investigating the incident, he said:  “Two men were seen running away towards the sports centre just after 11.40am last Tuesday morning (September 11), if you saw these men or you witnessed any part of the incident then please get in touch.
“Even if you’re not 100% sure about what you saw we would still asking that you contact us.  Any calls received will be treated in confidence.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 4411 Sam Bates on 101*, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 4411. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free** and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
