My Questions, Rutland County Council, Freedom of Speech, U Turn, By Mr Pook.
Tonight I attended a Rutland County Council meeting, I had notified the council that I would
like to ask questions relating to the Barleythorpe Field and saving it, something I have always supported
since I was a Town Councllor, which Oakham Town Council rejected.
I was told by Mr Pook I could only ask questions edited by the council.
Because of this breach of my Human Rights (article 10) I requested to make a pre-statement to highlight
the breach of the act.
The Conservative Chairman Councillor Parson told me I could not make this point. Because it would
suggest the council had changed my questions at this point I reminded him this is what the council had done.
At this point Mr Pook suggested I could ask my original unedited questions.
I told him I only had a copy of the edited question and it was to late.
He offered to send a person to get the originals but I turned that offer down.
I was then told I had to delete reference to Lord McNally and his statement made in the House of Lords.
Just before I asked my question.
My ward councillor Conservative Gene Plews made himself look silly, he stood up and told the chairman
he was leaving because he had no interest in what this person has to say.
