After reading a lot of Tweets about the passing of Baroness Thatcher, some filled with much hate, I tried to think of anything good she did.
My thoughts kept going back to the miners, the first time I noticed changes were happening in our
country.
It was not long after I had finished school and I visited Peterborough by train. All along the
footbridge into the Queensgate shopping centre were men with buckets. "please give generously to feed the woman and children" something I had only seen on TV in the form of an African famine appeal.
Then there was the poll tax riots.
Three Million unemployed. (I had a job then)
I won't mention Corby and her doomed theme park.
Cllr Adam Lowe deputy Mayor of Oakham told me once the best thing she ever did was allow him
to buy his council home.
Some would even say privatisation was good. although some privatisation is questionable today.
She brought us Sid. I purchased Anglian Water Shares and sold them the next day making 100% profit. Not much chance of that today.
She was a leading figure along with Ronald Reagan in bringing down the Berlin Wall and ending the Cold War. I will leave it there as I don't want the local Tory Mafia briefing down my neck.
And she was a Mum
I am sure if Mrs Thatcher could have, she would have popped up to Rutland County Council and
bashed the Tory Group with a very large handbag.
