Charity announces sponsored bike ride at Rutland Water.

The NSPCC Business Support Group, which raises money to help fund the work of the charity in and around Greater Peterborough including Oakham and Rutland, will host a 17-mile sponsored family fun ride around Rutland Water on Sunday June 23.

The event, which starts from Whitwell Leisure Park on Bulbrigg Lane, offers everyone the chance to enjoy a leisurely ride around the popular attraction with refreshments available around the circuit.

"This ride is for a truly fantastic cause – providing invaluable support for vulnerable children. Cycling around Rutland Water has long been a favourite activity for families from all over the area. So what a great way to have fun and make a difference to the lives of children in need and at risk," said organiser John Burcham.

Entry fees are £10 per adult and £5 for children or £25 for a family.  All funds raised will be spent locally. Entrants are also being encouraged to get sponsorship for their efforts with a personalised Just Giving page available on registration to make sponsorship quick and easy.

Julie Bloodworth, a member of the Business Support Group committee said: "Not only is this a fun day our for the family, it can also serve as a great team building exercise.  Some companies have chosen to use it as a social event and are planning picnics and barbecues at the end."
