Cllr Peter Lockett Oakham Town Councillor asked, How Much of the £700+ payment for trees is English Heritage Ripping Us Off?
The Clerk responded with the whole payment was for the new trees show above he then went to the office
a came back to reveal English Heritage charged £611 for the archaeological survey.
The former tree warden Cllr Lucas tried to justify another large pointless spend by saying "they are big trees
and special people had to plant them and they dug big holes"
Some Councillors asked what does English Heritage expect to find in Cutts Close.
I guess Time Teams failings have not helped there.
But only last month at Oakham School a old medieval pond was fond with artefacts from that time and
also Roman. They did of course dig a lot deeper.
Time after time this council proves its has no interest in anything more than winning Oakham in Bloom, Loo of the year and the pointless costly Green Flag and not forgetting its costly military charades.
