"We are lean and mean," enthuses chief executive Helen Briggs, who lives in Oakham.at the 10th Anniversary of Rutlands Independence
- Twenty Years of Rutland Independence, 10 years on Since chief executive Helen Brigg enthused, "We are lean and mean," (The Guardian) things have got worse.
- Staff have described Mrs Briggs as a bully.
- Aman Mehra a council employee tragically took his own life three years ago, after a dispute with Briggs, Mrs Briggs and Inspector Mistry did all they could to stop people asking questions about this case. The district judge summing up ruled I could write about the man. The Tory leader at a public meeting said "we can not reveal why Mehra was suspended because it would cause considerable embarrassment to his family." The cover up by Rutland County Council probably causes more embarrassment to his family, especially when you hear possible explanations like that given by former Tory, UKIP Councillor Nick Wainwright, who suggested "The comment has been removed after pressure from UKIP members claiming the family are upset, I feel its a case Cllr Wainwright is upset because I have repeated his comments"
- Rutland has the highest council tax in the land and receives the least services.
- A Tory Leadership which thinks it's OK to attack and describe its critics as 'Idiots' and worse using publicly funded equipment and services to carry out its attacks.
- Rutland has a business and enterprise park which has unlimited budget and makes no money.
- Rutland has many failing schools. Inadequate school places.
- Rutland has failing health care provision.
- Rutland has failing post 16 education provision.
- The Tories often like to list their success's which includes the by-pass.
- The uncompleted bus station.
- The little build that started life as the big build which includes the successful Catmose College, the college is only a success because the council does not run it. As for the building it still has faults and the council is hoping legal action at this late stage will help resolve that.
- Most recently the Royal Visit, when they put on the perfect piece of theater, the false market and the removal of estate agent signs and closing down posters throughout the town. The Tories produced the perfect lie on the day of the Royal Visit. When they next step forward for a funding hand out, I would not be surprised if they are refused after that show of perfection. Fools!
- Sadly I believe we are stuck with this vile Tory mess for some time, other parties such as Labour don't even bother to attempt to challenge them at elections as for the Lib Dems they stood all three candidates in one ward with two seats and moan when a long term Cllr loses his seat to a new Lib Dem Cllr. Odd Tactics!
- Rutland Tories rely on voter apathy and bullying, resulting in most keeping their seats uncontested and those who do win, only win with a few hundred votes in total, a poor turn out is always welcomed.
