Rutland County Council Postal Voting Security Risk Returning Officer Helen Briggs
No Seal on Box in council reception area.
Rutland County Council use one envelope for Parliamentary,
County and Parish votes some of these end up in this
box which is left unattended behind the reception
desk,
A counting agent this morning asked for a seal to be used.
They were told we can not seal the box because the envelopes
do not fit through the slot.
Poor excuse Mrs Briggs get a box with a bigger slot.
The papers on top of the box only record the envelopes
taken from the box and no record is kept of what goes in?
Mrs Briggs is very slack around about the security surrounding
postal votes.
In the past basic cable ties have been used to seal the other
boxes.
This has now been sorted Rutland County Council is now
using numbered seals and UKIP are also adding their
own purple numbered seals.
