One thing I have learnt is our Mayor Cllr Alf Dewis is not tolerant of public criticism in any
form. This evening he was highly critical of Rutland County Councillor Richard Clifton
and Mrs Patsy Clifton for pointing Oakham Town Councils inadequacy at the Annual Town
Meeting.
Like his comment to me his said this was not the correct platform to bring up issues up
relating to the Town Councils failings.
However despite his request that the council meeting is the place to bring up such issues
I strongly dispute this due to the rules enforced which restrict public participation to
agenda items only.
The Town Meeting to me the perfect venue for residents to raise there legitimate concerns
with out fear of the wrath of Cllr Alf Dewis.
Regarding Mrs Clifton, his insult was quite personal, I wonder which is worse
bring to the attention issues in front of Councillor or whispering in Private informal
meetings behind peoples backs?
