Sheep shearing Sacrewell Great North Road Peterborough PE6 8HJ

Sheep shearing

Saturday May 16th

Sheep shearing is an age-old skill, passed down from generation to generation, and at Sacrewell on 16 and 17 May, we'd like to pass it onto you.

We're not saying by the end of the day you'll be able to shear a sheep, but our expert Ross Priddle will give demonstrations and take you through everything you need to know about sheep shearing.

Will he be able to shear the entire fleece in one go? Come and find out...

Don't be sheepish. We'll be putting your skills to the test too as we ask you to guess the weight of a fleece and take part in our themed activities.

But, what happens to the fleece after it has been shorn?

We work with local spinner Sandra Ayres, who will be on site spinning and talking you through the process.

The Wool Room in Stamford will also be on hand talking about the history of wool and why it is still an essential resource today.

Price: Normal farm admission applies
