Oakham Town Council Planning Sub Committee Not Quorate 3rd June 2015
Oakham Town Councils first planning sub committee could not go ahead
yesterday after two new member who had volunteered to sit sit on the
committee failed to show.
The Planning sub committee was Cllr Stan Stubbs idea to get Rutland
County Council to take the Town Council seriously and is a trial.
The group had half a days training and a blaze of publicity in the Rutland
Times.
I have never been a fan of this committee because it takes away the
responsibility from other members who have no say in planning matters
unless they turn up as member of the public.
The committee can put large application to full council but the
full council can not call applications to full council.
The time the meetings are held are not convenient for most. 10.30am
on a Tuesday
The Local Government Guidance says Parish Councils should not
have sub committees.
Sub committees divide a already small divided team.
I was told Rutland County County Council has sub committees
well frankly when will Oakham Town Council wake up and stop
pretending to be something it is not. It is just a small parish council
with a big ego. with a small office in a big building which results
in a big bill for the Oakham tax payers.
