Rutland County Council Planned chainsaw massacre Oakham Castle

Rutland County Council Planned chainsaw massacre Oakham Castle

As  part of the council £2,000,000 lottery project to restore
the castle wall nearly all the trees on the perimeter will be
chopped down.

I took the following photographs of the perimeter so we can all
remember how green the council grounds were.

Various works to trees including felling of majority of trees as well as Pruning. Felling
is required to facilitate repair and restoration works to the curtain walls. The pruning
proposals have been made to bring the retained trees under a proactive management
regime in the context of the potential increase in access beneath the canopies of the
retained trees
