A plaque commemorating George Phillips’ work in Rutland around the First World War has been commissioned Buttercross House Oakham






















The plaque will replace this one damaged by Rutland Telecom.

paid for by Oakham Town Council.  It will be unveiled in Church Passage, 
near the Oakham Market Place, on Friday 28th August at 3pm by the Lord-Lieutenant of Rutland 
and (hopefully) George Phillips’ great-grandson.  

This will be a short ceremony, and it is also  hoped that George Phillips’ car, “FP4”, an 1899 
Decauville, will put in an appearance.
