October 13th 2015 marks 100 years since the First World War Battle of the Hohenzollern Redoubt, during which the 4th (City) and 5th (County) Territorial Battalions of the Leicestershire Regiment suffered heavy casualties.

Some 44 members of the 5th Battalion who were killed at Hohenzollern were from Rutland and the Regimental flag was flown at half-mast outside the Council’s offices in Oakham as a mark of respect.

A special service of Choral Evensong will be held at Leicester Cathedral at 5.30pm
on 13th October to mark the Centenary and members of the public are welcome to attend.”
