Jobcentre Advisor Says Volunteering To Be A Town Councillor does not help employment prospects

Jobcentre Advisor Says Volunteering To Be A Town Councillor does not help employment prospects

This week during my visit to Melton Mowbray Job Centre the advisor suggested it would help
my employment prospects if I took up some voluntary work.

I told the advisor I volunteer as a town councillor and correspond with and assist some
residents.

I can only assume she knows Oakham Town Council well, she boldly wrote on my
jobsearch book RESEARCH VOL WORK IN CHARITY SHOP IN OAKHAM.
whilst saying employers will respect and prefer that you were working in a charity
shop rather than the voluntary work you might be doing in your role as a town councillor.

She might be correct when I looking at the standard of messages I received
from a person connected to our Town Council, just after leaving the job centre on
Tuesday. Their spelling is worse than mine. Allegations of theft  and Former
Mayors taking Viagra and taking part in wife swaps.

Text Message 1: ###### steals skate park money.
Council use public money to cover up accourding
to local shop owner.

Text Message 2: Cllr ###### makes
inapropriate jokes and now worried

Text Message 3: Beech won't stand as his wife
talked him out of it.

Text Message 4: ###### is a concern. He is
using viagra. still keeps Mrs ######
happy.
