Oakham Town Council Bans Cottesmore Hunt From Meeting at Cutts Close on Boxing Day
This evening Oakham Town Council voted to refuse to grant permission for Cottesmore
Hunt to hold its annual meeting on Boxing Day in Cutts Close Oakham.
Various reasons were given which included the Hunts failure to clean up the hounds
mess in the past although it was noted the hunt had previously sent a boy to clean
up horse muck.
The political nature of the hunt meet was raised.
Along with the recent prosecution and conviction of a member of the hunt staff.
For Blocking a badger set.
The hunt also started providing riders with a pop up bar in the park which
was against the council's designated place act.
The council has approved a request from the Chipperfield family to provide
a Circus with children's workshops and Funfair for families over the Christmas and new year period.
Subject to negotiations of fees there may also be some free activities for
families on Boxing Day.
