Rutland County Council appear to be a little confused, This week's Rutland Times article suggests
the County Council is consulting with the Town Council regarding the location and equipment may
not be available?

A letter received from Rutland County Council on the 4th December 2014 and distributed at the normal town councils snail pace to all councillors, suggests the town council should carry out a
consultation and equipment may not be available?

Why has the consultation suddenly become the responsibility of the town council?
Where is the equipment and why would it not be available?

Rutland County Council says it placed the pole in its chosen location to gain maximum use
of equipment. That is not true pole was dumped in its current location after the original position
was found to be obstructed by underground power cables.

Rutland County Council has handled this matter in an appalling way, poor communication and
lack of proper resident consultation, has led them to have to remove the pole from town council
land.

The council said if Rutland County Council needed to place the pole on its land in a less
intrusive location it would consider their request.

A Rutland County Councillor in a message accused Oakham Town Council of just having
a hissy fit because they had placed the pole on their land. Oakham Town Council did not have a hissy fit, as far as I understand it they just wanted Rutland County Council to adhere to appropriate protocol as the Town Council does when wanting to place benches, cycle bollard and flower beds on its land. All that activity has to be legally licenced and the same applies to RCC when they want to place anything on someone else's land.
