The Black Cap Camden High Street Anniversary Protest

#WeAreTheBlackCap CAMPAIGN ANNIVERSARY PROTEST 9th April 2016, 1-4pm.

Outside The Black Cap, 171 Camden High Street, Camden Town

One year after the closure of the LGBT+ Pub The Black Cap, a large anniversary protest is planned this Saturday between 1pm – 4pm.

Support continues unabated.  Community feeling is massively strong – and massively united – in wanting to see the Black Cap reopened as a LGBT+ pub and cabaret venue Over 11,000 people have signed our petition or joined our Facebook campaign.

We are also pleased to have the continued support from of the leader of Camden Council Sarah Hayward, Keir Starmer MP and Liberal Democrat London Mayoral candidate, Caroline Pidgeon, Human Rights campaigner Peter Tatchell as well celebrities such as Paul O’Grady and Stephen Fry.

Appearances at the event include The London Gay Mens Chorus will perform on the day and  Trudy Howson, LGBT Poet Laureate has create a new piece in support of the campaign to demonstrate how acutely the pub’s loss is felt.   The current scheduling is:  12.30 for media interviews (at the right side nr Boots for this) 1.15 – Welcome and thanks/messages of support  1.30 – London Gay Mens Chorus 1.45  - Trudy Howson – LGBT Poet Laureate   2pm – Speakers – Nigel Harris and Alex Green will update on campaign and call to action for next steps
