Oakham Town Council Public Meetings Surgeries and Cemetery

Oakham Town Council was meant to have public meeting to seek promote itself and seek
input from residents it is meant to represent.

Oakham Town Council has stopped its monthly surgeries.

Oakham Town Council is not interested in public input and does not represent the
people of Oakham.

After many years of messing about Oakham Town Council is still not ready to
take over the management of the cemetery from Rutland County Council.

I have sent the following email to the council which I am sure will be ignored.

Dear Oakham Town Council

Earlier this year this council voted to have quarterly public meetings, so we could report on the councils
achievements, what achievements? perhaps that is why there have been no meetings resulting in the fact
we have not been able to listen to public input and concerns.

The council was also going to hold regular surgeries which included setting up a stand at the farmers
market.  Neither of these commitments have happened.

I often wonder why we agree anything at meetings, if it what is decided on is not going to be acted upon.

The same thing happened when the cemetery working group was given new instructions and
new members earlier this year. Can the council please explain there has been no reports from
this group for a number of months?

Will there be a full report at the next meeting of the council? I am keen to hear we are progressing
with the taking over of the management of the cemetery from Rutland County Council. Because
all I have seen are the letters from Rutland County Council complaining about the conduct
of some of the members of the working group and the allegation that they are breaching the code
of conduct.

I fully supported Cllr Lowes restructure plans so as he stated he can remove Cllrs Lucas and Stubbs from the working group.
I think Cllr Ind is very capable of taking this project on his own. Too many people
have worked on this for far to long and very little has been achieved. It is not for a working
group to make decisions on behalf of the council they were meant to simply obtain information
and report to the council to make decisions and this has been a constant failure of the working
group over at least the last two years.
