Who decided the Tory Team for Exton before the resignation of Rutland County Councillor Terry King?
The leader of Rutland County Council Terry King should have resigned many months ago
do to his poor health.
I and others were astonished when he went off sick in December instead of resigning and leaving Council Officers (staff) to represent his ward.
On Tuesday someone decided it would be more fitting to impose a Tory team upon
the residents of the Exton Ward.
This was published on Rutland County Councils website.
Four councillors to handle ward business for Exton
Tuesday 10th January 2017
People living in Exton Ward can now contact one of four Rutland County Councillors if they have an issue or a problem they need to discuss.
Councillors Alan Walters, Andrew Stewart, Kenneth Bool and Nick Begy will represent the interests of Exton residents and handle any ward business for the area while Councillor Terry King is absent through ill health.
Councillor King began an extended leave of absence from his role as Leader of Rutland County Council and Ward Member for Exton in December. Councillor Tony Mathias remains as Acting Leader.
Councillors Walters, Stewart, Bool and Begy each take on responsibility for a different area of Exton Ward, as follows:
Egleton village – Councillor Alan Walters
Email: awalters@rutland.gov.uk
Phone: 07540 723 486
Ashwell village – Councillor Andrew Stewart
Email: astewart@rutland.gov.uk
Phone: 01572 767 662
Exton village – Councillor Kenneth Bool
Email: kbool@rutland.gov.uk
Phone: 01572 813 356
All other areas – Councillor Nick Begy
Email: nbegy@rutland.gov.uk
Phone: 01572 720 548
Councillor King’s duties as Portfolio Holder for Finance and Development are also being delegated for the duration of his absence. Councillor Tony Mathias will take on responsibility for Finance and Councillor Oliver Hemsley will handle Development.
Acting Leader Tony Mathias said: “Councillor King and his family would like to thank well-wishers for the many messages of support they have received and continue to ask for privacy.
“While he is absent, Exton residents will be represented by several of our Elected Members to ensure they can continue to engage with the Council and raise any issues that are affecting them. Specific services and projects that fall under the portfolio of ‘Finance and Development’ will be overseen by myself and Cllr Oliver Hemsley respectively.”
Democracy has always been a great problem for Rutland Conservatives.
Thankfully they have seen sense and this morning Terry King has resigned and an
election is to be called so that the residents of Exton Ward can be fairly and lawfully
represented.
I sense the meddling Tory CEO has had some involvement in this, in the same she meddled during after the loss of Roger Begy which saw his son being elected unopposed.
