Oakham Town Council Agenda 12th September 2018 at 5pm

Our Mayor decided to move the meeting time to 5pm without consulting the council as he thought all member might like to attend the beating the retreat to be held by the Soldiers Charity in the market place. This year it is just a static band so according to Rutland Radio there are no drums so the soldiers will not be beating retreat.

The payment approval for the path is returning to council. I will not being approving the payment as the Mayor Cllr Adam Lowe failed to obtain more than one quote, failed to comply with European and local government laws. Cllr Adam Lowe and the council member who voted to award the contract have put the council at risk of court action, which can be taken by the external auditors.
It is really about time this council took spending of public money seriously and Cllr Joyce Lucas
stopped sitting in meetings saying we don't need to obtain quotes.
Many times I have raised the issue of the council not tendering correctly and mentioned the requirement to follow European laws and been ignored or told we don't need to even though our financial regulations say we should. If the council had followed the European the tender documents would have been placed on a central government website and I am sure we would have received more and certainly more competitive quotes rather than just the one from a person known to Cllr Adam Lowe.

For some time the council has not had a rep on the Rutland Community House Trust mainly due to Councillor Joyce Lucas BEM telling the council one was not needed? If we had a rep we might not find ourselves in the current planning mess with the trust.
