Bridging Education, Safeguarding, and Family Support
The newly shaped role is designed to support the expanded responsibilities of Rutland's Virtual School, alongside the rollout of critical national initiatives like the Families First for Children reforms, SEND reforms, and modern multi-agency safeguarding frameworks.
The successful candidate will act as a vital bridge between education settings, children's social care, early years providers, and health partners. Key responsibilities include:
Representing education within multi-agency safeguarding frameworks, such as the Multi-Agency Child Protection Team (MACPT).
Promoting the educational outcomes of children who have—or previously had—a social worker.
Supporting the integration of education within Family Help and Family Support Network Packages.
Analysing performance data to track trends, challenge professional practice, and drive service improvements in inclusion, attendance, and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Who Should Apply?
Rutland County Council is looking for an experienced education or safeguarding professional who is confident operating within complex multi-agency environments. Ideal candidates will likely have a background as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), Designated Teacher, School Effectiveness Adviser, or a senior leader within an educational or social care setting.

Comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding, attendance, inclusion, and SEND.
Strong communication, influencing, and professional challenge skills.
A full driving licence for county-wide travel.
