Lyddington Village Fete

Lyddington Village Fete

Saturday, May 11th

Event Summary
This popular annual village event truly is a quintessentially traditional English day out, held on the village green in the heart of this picturesque Rutland village. The whole village comes together to put on all the essential ingredients for a fantastic family event - fun and games for the children, delicious refreshments, and entertainment for everyone - including a raffle, tombola, fun dog show and a display of classic cars and motorcycles. Music from the Gretton Silver Band provides the perfect background to the cheerful atmosphere. We even have our fingers crossed for our a flyby from a Spitfire!

The green-fingered amongst us are already busy growing plants for the plant stall, and you can rummage for a bargain amongst the bric-a-brac, toys and books. Our formidable village bakers will be supplying show-stopper homemade cakes and preserves to our tea tent, as well as the cake stall. The ice cream stand is always a hit with the children, while the Pimms tent offers more grown-up refreshment. And when all the fun makes you really hungry, you can enjoy a classic burger from the BBQ.

Another big draw is Lyddington Bede House; English Heritage generously open their doors and offer free entry to visitors on the day of the fete. This is a fanatical opportunity to visit this unique and historic medieval Rutland building and grounds, saving £14 for a family of four.

Entry to the fete is free for everyone, and all the money raised goes towards maintaining the historic church of St Andrew, the Village Hall, and other local projects.
