Shelter Cutts Close Oakham Rutland
Once again Cllr Adam Lowe former Mayor and Rutland County Councillor has produced a paper for tonight's Oakham Town Council meeting that contains inadequate and required information, for councillors to consider.
He wishes members to consider the removal of the two benches.
The benches are made of metal and anchored to the ground and through the wall, so they are not going to fall off.
Other parts of his request are more sensible and involve general maintenance of the shelter. Something the clerk has power to arrange when needed.
The paper only includes one quote for all the work, there is no mention of who is going to carry out the work.
I am told Cllr Adam Lowe may put an alternative to council, which is not included in the paper and that is a suggestion I made when I was a councillor and was ignored.
The current shelter which has a storage space ,should be demolished and
replaced with something a more attractive and useful for the community.
I suggested a pavilion style building a veranda and seating. It should include a space for community use including a small kitchen, storage and a toilet. I also suggest the bandstand could be used for weddings. It would have been good to see this considered at tonight's meeting.
Some people see young people sitting on these benches as a problem, so what do old people like Cllr Adam Lowe do take away as normal.
I do not understand Cllr Lowe and Clerks aversion to obtain three quotes before spending public money.
