Oakham Town Council Shelter Doors Cutts Close Oakham Rutland Smashed.
This shelter once had solid wood doors, all be it a little old, they did their job. personally I would have refurbished the old solid wood door, they had survived years of knocks from young people.
When the doors were replaced in the summer, I took some photographs of the shoddy replacements which have cost a fortune. A hollow frame clad with cheap pine slats. Very quickly it could be seen the weather was having an effect as the wooded slats they could be seen shrinking.
A standard of work which has become expected when Oakham Town Council do anything.
Thanks again to Cllr Adam Lowe who decided the council needed to spend our money on a project that did not really need doing.
One Wednesday evening young people who hang about smoking fragranced cigarettes broke two panels out of one door, I reported this to Oakham Town Council and once the again the useless Town Clerk ignored my report and did nothing. On Thursday both doors were smashed to pieces by the same group.
The local police have said on social media the offenders have been identified from the CCTV camera recordings.
I wonder if Oakham Town Councils Clerk will seek compensation and save the tax payers further expense. She has never been bothered to ask in past cases of criminal damage.
Not only do we have to pay for new doors, there is the cost of the call out to board up the shelter.
